Town of Encampment

Area News / Public Notices

Public Notice

The Town of Encampment will have two changes affecting the cost of services that went into effect July 01, 2024. They will be reflected on your July 31st bill.

1. The sewer rate will increase $3.00 per month due to significant operational changes and cost increases.

2. The base allowance for water will be lowered from 10,000 gallons per month to 7,000 gallons per month. Use over that 7,000 gallons will be billed at a flat $3.50 per 1,000 gallons. Significant cost increases for treatment are also affecting the water rates. Rather than have a blanket rate increase, we seek to encourage conservation.

PLEASE BE ADVISED, IF YOU MAKE YOUR PAYMENT THROUGH A BILL PAY SERVICE YOU WILL NEED TO INCREASE YOUR PAYMENT BY $3.00, AND WATCH TO SEE IF FUTURE BILLS ARE IMPACTED BY CHANGES IN WATER BILLING PRACTICES.

If you have any questions about how these changes might affect your account or if you would like to discuss how much water you are currently metering, please contact the Town Hall at 307-327-5501.

Public Notice

The Town of Encampment has begun treatment for the abatement of mosquitoes.

The Town of Encampment will be using the ground fogger during the early morning hours beginning at approximately 6:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout mosquito season, when optimum conditions permit.

Please do your part in helping to reduce the breeding areas for mosquitoes. Keep tall grass and weeds mowed and remove any yard debris that will collect water. Click for more information.

Thank you for your help in the Mosquito Abatement effort.

If you have any questions about the Town of Encampment Mosquito Abatement Program or if you would like information on the chemicals used, please contact the Encampment Town Hall at 307 327-5501 or a member of the Public Works Department.

Emergency Contact

Just a reminder to residents: If you no longer have your telephone landline, please make sure the Town of Encampment has a cell number to contact you in the event of an emergency. You can contact the Town Hall at 307 327-5501 if you are unsure what we have on file. Thanks!

Carbon County ALERT

Carbon County is able to send you emergency alerts via text message, email, pager, or voice mail (in extreme cases), based on your preferences. It is important that they collect this contact information because many households no longer utilize traditional land-based telephone lines.

The system is intended to be used for emergency alerts, as well as non-emergency incidents that may have significant impacts to residents. Emergency Alerts could be related to specific hazards that require some kind of action be taken such as evacuation, shelter in place, boil water orders, etc. Non-emergency alerts could include significant transportation problems with prolonged impacts or significant ongoing police or fire activity. This list is not meant to be all inclusive, and demonstrates that this system will not be used for routine information. In addition to receiving information on your wireless device, you may also receive notification on your land telephone line (if you have one) depending on the type of incident or event.
